Does this count as physics, or more properly basic mathematics?

Acceleration occurs in the direction of the applied force (part of Newton's Second Law of Motion).

Gee, what direction were they pulling the tree?

Well more generally, the height of the tree was greater than the distance between the base of the tree and the end of the truck. And it looks like the tree's height was also greater than the distance between its base and the house, and between its base and the road. Which way were they expecting it to fall?
