I've Updated the Blogroll

I've added a bunch of edu-blogs to the blogroll on the side.

Go check them out.

They've all withstood the test of time, i.e., I am tired of googling them every time I want to read them.

I stubbornly refuse to adopt modern technology and use a real feed reader.

I find www.bloglines.com is good, and isn't as invasive as installing a reader.

It's Liz from I Speak of Dreams.

Simple instructions on setting up feeds in Bloglines.

put

http://www.bloglines.com/

in the URL line of your favorite browser. Click on the link that invites you to register, which will take you to this page

http://www.bloglines.com/register/

Fill in the blank fields. Bloglines will send you a confirming registration email.

Answer it.

You then have a bloglines account, which you may populate with your favorite blogs.

This too is simple. Once you are in bloglines, follow the links to

Home > Help > Bloglines Subscribe Button

and follow the instructions to add the bloglines subscribe button to your browser toolbar.

As you are reading a favorite blog, click on the link to subscribe. The link will take you away from the blog to the bloglines subscription page. Click a few radio buttons and there you go, or Bob's your uncle.

I've become a big fan of Google Reader in the couple of months I've been using it. Very simple, nice visual interface, very easy to add and manage feeds. I was a longtime Bloglines user before I switched and I do like Google Reader better. Check it out.

I use my blogroll on my blog for frequent reads, and bookmarks (or Google Desktop) for things I want to refer to later. I don't want to use an external server like bloglines because that's one more server to go down, and I certainly don't want rss sending me more email.

I for one still do not know what a real-whatever feeder is.

Sad to say.

I don't want to get all Sally Fields' on you by gushing, but let me just say that I'm honored. While I may not agree with everything you write, I respect you a lot :)
